Simbi: Bedtime Stories ("Simbi", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our mobile application, website, and related services (together, the "Services").

Simbi is designed for use by parents or guardians for their family, including children using the app under adult supervision. We aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide the Services.

We collect only the information needed to provide the core functionality of Simbi.
A. Anonymous app account information
To use Simbi, the app creates an anonymous account identifier through our backend. This may include:
- Anonymous user ID
- Authentication identifier
- Family account identifier
- Join code or family code used to connect devices within a family
This anonymous identifier is not intended to directly identify a real-world person.
B. Child profile information
If a parent or guardian creates a child profile in the app, we may collect information they choose to provide, such as:
- Child first name or nickname
- Age or age range
- Optional pronunciation hint
- Avatar or appearance selections
- Story preferences, themes, helpers, narration voice, favourites, or related settings
Please do not provide sensitive personal information about a child.
C. Story generation and app content
To provide the core features of Simbi, we process and store content needed to create and replay stories, including:
- Story prompts and story-generation instructions
- Character details and selections entered in the app
- Story settings and preferences
- Generated stories
- Generated narration audio
- Saved stories, library items, and related in-app content
D. Purchase and subscription information
If you subscribe or make purchases, payment processing is handled by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details. We may receive information such as:
- Subscription tier
- Product purchased
- Entitlement status
- Renewal, expiration, billing issue, or cancellation status
- App Store receipt or subscription-related identifiers needed to validate access
E. App-generated installation identifier
The app may create a random identifier stored locally on the device. This identifier:
- is generated by the app
- is not derived from device hardware or operating system identifiers
- is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking
- is used only to help link a device to the family’s account within our own service
F. Support communications
If a parent or guardian contacts us for support, we may collect:
- Email address
- The contents of the support message
- Any attachments, screenshots, or information voluntarily provided
We do not require an email address to use the app unless a parent chooses to contact support.

We use information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain Simbi
- Create and deliver personalised bedtime stories and narration audio
- Support family accounts, child profiles, and connected devices
- Maintain subscriptions and entitlements
- Save story history and preferences

- Prevent fraud, abuse, misuse, and security issues
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations
- Enforce our terms, policies, and other agreements
We do not use personal information for third-party advertising, behavioural advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for advertising, marketing, or third-party analytics purposes.
We share information only with service providers that help us operate the core functionality of Simbi. These include:
- Supabase — for backend infrastructure, database, anonymous authentication, serverless functions, and storage of generated story text and audio files
- RevenueCat — for subscription and in-app purchase entitlement management
- Anthropic (Claude) — for generating personalised bedtime story text requested in the app
- Inworld AI — for generating narration audio for requested stories
- Resend — for delivering support emails when a parent chooses to contact support
We share only the information reasonably necessary for those providers to perform their services on our behalf.
Examples include:
- anonymous user/account identifiers
- child profile data needed to personalise requested stories
- story text needed for narration generation
- App Store receipt or entitlement information needed for subscription validation
- parent email address and support message only when a parent chooses to contact support
We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or third-party analytics providers.
We may also disclose information:
- if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
- to protect the rights, property, or safety of users, our business, or others
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation, sale of assets, or similar business transaction
7. AI-generated content
Simbi uses third-party providers to generate story text and narration audio.
When a parent requests a story, information such as child profile details, prompts, story preferences, character selections, and related story-generation instructions may be processed by our AI providers only as necessary to generate the requested content.
We do not use these providers for advertising or analytics.
8. Children’s privacy
We take children’s privacy seriously.
Simbi is intended to be used by a parent or guardian for their family, or with appropriate parental involvement. We aim to collect only the information about a child that is reasonably necessary to provide the app’s functionality.
Child profile information is entered by a parent or guardian and used only to personalise the bedtime stories and related features requested within the app.
We do not knowingly collect more personal information from children than is reasonably necessary for the functionality of the Services.
Parents or guardians may contact us to:
- request access to personal data associated with their family’s use of the app
- request correction of inaccurate information
- request deletion of child profiles, saved stories, account-related data, or related information

- provide and maintain the Services
- maintain saved stories, child profiles, and related app content

Your information may be processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States. Where required, we take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

The Services may rely on, integrate with, or link to third-party services. Those third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their independent privacy practices.
